Job Description

PAG seeks a highly motivated Associate in our Bangalore or Mumbai, India office to join our Solutions & Alternatives team within Asset Management. As a Performance Analyst within JPMorgan's Performance Analysis Group (PAG), you will play a critical role in providing comprehensive performance analysis and reporting services to support the Global Solutions and Alternatives Asset Class. You will collaborate closely with the global PAG Ops & Technology teams, investment teams, and stakeholders globally to deliver accurate and insightful performance measurement and attribution analysis. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the success of one of the world's leading financial institutions while gaining exposure to diverse investment strategies across asset classes.

Job Responsibilities:

  1. Performance Measurement and Analysis:
    • Support performance measurement and attribution processes for the Global Solutions and Alternatives Asset Class, including real estate, and other alternative investments.
    • Support business as usual (BAU) activities for monthly client & fund performance reporting, particularly for Alternative Real Estate Funds, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of performance metrics.
    • Utilize industry-standard performance calculation methodologies and tools to ensure accuracy and consistency in performance reporting.
    • Maintain and enhance performance measurement databases and systems to support evolving business needs and reporting requirements.
    • Assist the Alternatives lead to Collaborate with the PAG Alternatives lead to identify opportunities for expanding the PAG offering into various alternative verticals. Engage with clients to understand their specific problem statements and challenges within the alternative investment space.
    • Act as a subject matter expert on solutions advisory and alternative investments, providing guidance and support to both internal stakeholders and client reporting teams.
  2. Data Validation, Reporting and Communication:
    • Validate and reconcile investment returns to ensure data integrity and completeness.
    • Implement data quality controls and procedures to mitigate risks and errors in performance reporting.
    • Monitoring data quality and performing compares between computations from different sources (e.g. internal vs external).
    • Respond promptly to ad-hoc performance-related inquiries from stakeholders.
    • Support the team with metrics, reporting, and critical business as usual (BAU) activities during month-end periods, ensuring smooth operations and timely delivery of performance metrics.
    • Become a key contributor to the department’s efforts of improving systems and technology, by actively participating in projects, requirement gathering and testing of software and system tools.
  3. Process Improvement and Innovation:
    • Drive initiatives to leverage skillset in technology, automation, and analytics tools to streamline performance reporting and analysis activities.
    • Identify opportunities to enhance performance analysis processes, workflows, and controls to increase efficiency, scalability, and accuracy.
    • Be a driver of the development and implementation of the performance and attribution systems with best industry practices.
    • Stay abreast of industry best practices, market trends, and regulatory developments related to performance measurement and reporting.

Required Qualifications, skills & capabilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics or Computer Science (or similar discipline) from an accredited, high quality institution preferred
  • Proven expertise utilizing Intelligent Automation tools such as Alteryx and/or Python, to create visuals, error reporting and summary reporting for our large datasets
  • 7+ years of experience in performance analysis, attribution, or related areas within the financial services industry, preferably with exposure to asset management industry
  • Comfortable in a team environment while also able to deliver on independent assignments.
  • Knowledge of portfolio accounting principles, and performance and attribution methodologies
  • Demonstrated business acumen with a keen understanding of financial markets and investment products.
  • Strong quantitative skills, comfortable with formulas, performance measurement methodology and risk measures
  • Understanding of the various businesses/products within the Asset management space
