Credit Originations Manager Regional Lead, Executive Director - Real Estate Banking

The Commercial Real Estate (CRE) group at J.P. Morgan offers top-tier financial solutions across all major real estate asset types, working with a diverse range of clients in the sector. Our Real Estate Banking (REB) delivers commercial real estate and banking products to clients active in major U.S. markets. We have national expertise in real estate credit and manage large multi-bank syndications to finance high-quality real estate investments for our clients.

As a Credit Originations Manager Regional Lead within the Real Estate Banking team, you will oversee a regional team of Credit Originators, promoting the new loan origination process for commercial real estate clients. You will need a strong understanding of the commercial real estate industry, banking rules and regulations, and prior experience in handling and administering construction loans and real estate term loans. As an experienced, independent, and qualified credit professional, you will manage various dynamic credit situations, while also acting as a leader to efficiently utilize team resources and deliver accurate, timely results.

Job responsibilities:

  • Report directly to the National Head of Credit Originations and actively participates in national strategy development
  • Manage a regional team of Credit Originators while maintaining the ability to cover their own clients as a Credit Originator if portfolio growth or team turnover warrants
  • Manage a regional team of Credit Originators with the following 4 principles utilized to evaluate the manager’s effectiveness: Drive Results; Enable the Team; Lead Inclusively; and Grow Talent
  • Evaluate new loan opportunities; identifying strengths and weaknesses of proposed transactions to drive decision making
  • Coach their team to structure complex loans and coordinate the credit approval process in conjunction with Underwriters, Client Executives, and Credit Executives
  • Serve as an escalation point for their team to drive consistency and help with roadblocks in preparing and negotiating term sheets and loan documentation, coordinating the real estate closing process, including reviewing the due diligence, and presenting to senior management proposed loan transactions
  • Contribute to the development and execution of client strategies in collaboration with Client Executives
  • Provide oversight of the review of Underwriting, Investment Committee Memorandums, Credit Approval Packages, and Risk Rating recommendations
  • Guide the team in reinforcing established underwriting standards and guidelines, credit approval requirements, and other policies and procedures associated with loan originations
  • Ensure communication and implementation of updates to policy and procedure guidance as well as best practices from other regions
  • Assist with training and development of junior staff members in the region

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Minimum10 years of commercial banking/lending experience, including extensive credit, structuring, closing, and loan documentation experience
  • Experience in Commercial Real Estate Structuring is required
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to clearly express and support opinions in a confident and diplomatic manner, listen thoughtfully to the input and critiques of managers and team members, and effectively articulate positions to senior management
  • Superior interpersonal skills to interact with clients, counsel, products partners, and senior management
  • Significant accounting and finance knowledge, as well as strong knowledge of real estate fundamentals and concepts
  • Strong analytical and business writing skills
  • Completion of a major corporate or investment banking credit training program
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Power Point
  • BA/BBA required

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • MBA preferred
  • Knowledge of JPMC or similar bank policies and procedures preferred
