As a Derivatives Middle Office Vice President within the Hong Kong Derivatives Middle Office team, you will collaborate with the regional derivative middle office team to establish a comprehensive operating environment for derivatives. Your role will involve designing and implementing solutions that fulfill business requirements across Asset Management (AM). You will provide strategic direction to operational capabilities, ensuring that we can support the growth of new businesses, products, and markets in a controlled, agile, and scalable manner.

Job responsibilities:

  • Defines the end-to-end operating environment for derivatives trading with strong risk and control mindset
  • Maintains and impacts efficiency gain of the operating process with strong control mindset
  • Establishes areas of improvement and implement new procedures and change existing process flows to ensure tight controls front to back
  • Leads efforts towards efficiency coupled with ever stronger controls is essential
  • Establishes strong relationships across the Business, Risk, Technology and other support groups
  • Partners with global leaders, the Business and Client Onboarding to ensure consistency in operating environment resiliency across all line of businesses to shape the Business strategy and ensure alignment with Asset Management wide goal, and to set up new products and design new operating models
  • Collaborates with various stakeholders (portfolio managers, compliance, controls, risk, client service, operations, internal and external service providers) to design and drive comprehensive solutions that meet business requirements
  • Oversees offshored and outsourced activity whilst ensuring performance and service levels are met
  • Keeps informed of market and regulatory changes impacting the derivative business and ensure processes/controls are in place to support changes
  • Manages projects and initiatives, such as process improvement, business model changes, system implementation, new product or new market initiatives rollouts, and other ad hoc projects
  • Ensures that a highly robust first line control framework is put in place to avoid and mitigate trading and settlement risks

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills:

  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in Middle office in the banking industry
  • Strong familiarity of cross asset class expertise in the Derivatives market, with strong understanding of the evolving market structure and regulatory environment
  • Solid derivative product knowledge, includes all equity and fixed income related derivatives, including but not limited to, Options, Forwards, IRS, CDX, CDS, CFD.
  • Ability to demonstrate track record of collaborating with Business and Technology partners that help deliver impactful results to differentiate client service, meet or exceed business needs, and greatly improve operational capabilities
  • Inclusive leadership skills, with the ability to collaborate across a highly matrixed organization
  • Ability to create a vision, and creative presence with strong credibility to establish a collaborative and flexible partnership, and interact effectively with senior Operations, Technology and Business sponsors
  • An outstanding ability to apply quantitative analytical approaches, communicate effectively and confidently (both oral and written)Ability to influence and negotiate effectively at all levels and across a variety of business strategies
