Become the trusted advisor that our Lending Specialists and Credit Risk executives need to keep our Private Bank Lending Solutions business on the cutting edge while doing so in a safe and sound manner.

As a Private Bank Lending Attorney - Vice President, Assistant General Counsel in our Private Bank Credit Legal team, you will be part of a team that supports multiple geographic segments, ultra-high and high net worth client distribution channels and lending products, our internal document preparation team and customer-facing Lending Specialists, Credit Risk executives and underwriters, and loan operations partners, with respect to commercial and wealth management lending transactions. You will leverage your legal knowledge to help coordinate the legal team’s role in supporting and advising on all significant business, controls and compliance initiatives, as well as various cross-line of business projects. Job responsibilities

  • Support and advise the business with respect to commercial and wealth management lending transactions, including fund finance and sports finance lending transactions, and with respect to capital management initiatives
  • Escalate issues as appropriate and share potential concerns, issues, and ideas with legal, compliance and control functions across the company
  • Advise the business with respect to new products, and pricing, marketing, regulatory and related issues impacting financial institutions operating in a multi-state and international environment and provide training to the business
  • Prepare and update standard forms and procedures and manage outside counsel relationships
  • Partner with Risk, Controls, and Compliance colleagues regarding operational and regulatory risk and control issues and the applicability of federal and state law and regulation to the business

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • At least 5 years of relevant lending/finance transactional experience at a law firm and/or in-house legal department at a large bank or other financial services company with demonstrated experience managing increasingly complex matters
  • The strategic vision to anticipate legal issues for different lending products and product distribution channels
  • The ability to prioritize work in a fast moving environment, manage a large number of issues at one time, and interact with senior and executive management
  • Self-starter with strong analytical and collaborative skills; adaptability and ability to apply existing skills to unfamiliar subject matter areas
  • Licensed to practice law and a member in good standing in the jurisdiction where the role will be located prior to commencement of employment or otherwise in compliance with the in-house counsel registration rules of such jurisdiction

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Experience collaborating on a broad range of business strategies and issues
  • Knowledge of the legal and regulatory requirements for commercial banking and wealth management businesses
  • Demonstrated problem solving and project management skills, judgment and character
