As a Software Engineer III at JPMorgan Chase within the Digital and Platform Services team, you serve as a seasoned member of an agile team to design and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. You are responsible for carrying out critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm’s business objectives.

Job responsibilities

• Design/develop creative software components, with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions
• Develop secure high-quality production code, and debug code written by others
• Identify opportunities to eliminate or automate remediation of recurring issues to improve overall operational stability of software applications and systems
• Participate in evaluation sessions with other internal teams to drive requirements, designs, and applicability for use within existing systems and information architecture
• Contribute to communities of practice across Software Engineering to drive awareness and use of new and leading-edge technologies
• Execute the delivery of software development as a core member on an agile team
• Triage technical issues and work toward solving problems creatively
• Add to team culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

• Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 3+ years applied experience
• Hands-on practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
• Experience in one or more programming language(s) as a full-stack developer using modern technology: React JS, Spring Boot, Kafka, micro services, APIs, Java, AWS Cloud, etc.
• Practical AWS cloud native experience preferably on EKS, PostgreSQL, etc.
• Proficient in all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle
• Demonstrate understanding of Agile methodologies, CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security
• Exposure to building internet scale platforms for digital applications with strong background knowledge of OOPS and industry best practices

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

• Strong understanding of Java concurrency, concurrency patterns, and experience building thread safe code
• Experience with design patterns (e.g., Gof4, enterprise patterns, etc.)
• In-depth knowledge of the financial services industry and their IT systems
