Job Description

The opportunity is for you to join the Legal Entity Control (LEC) team based in London as part of Global Finance and Business Management. The LEC team are based in London, Mumbai and Warsaw and are primarily responsible for the oversight of legal entities in the UK and ensuring that a strong control environment exists as it relates to all businesses, products and operational areas that impact the UK financial statements.

As a Legal Entity Controller - UK Statutory Reporting – Associate withing Legal Entity Control team, you will support with the production, co-ordination, and management of statutory financial statements for a key UK regulated entity. The work is challenging with tight audit and regulatory deadlines requiring both strong time management as well attention to detail. Job responsibilities

  • Produce key disclosures contained within the UK statutory financial statements under local GAAP, working closely with the Lines of Business and external audit.
  • Prepare working files and support audit papers to a high degree of accuracy and liaison with external auditors on an annual basis.
  • Maintain and reconcile our local ledger platform and operating model.
  • Support technical UK GAAP/IFRS accounting analysis including accounting memos and new product assessments.
  • Identify and drive enhancements to current processes and controls, including assisting in various projects and initiatives which impact the legal entity’s local accounts.
  • Build and maintain relationships across Finance to ensure effective coordination and communication of audit requests and information required for the accounts.
  • Support cross entity disclosures & audit tasks for the wider LEC team during the year where required.

Required qualifications, capabilities and skills

  • Qualified accountant (i.e. CA, ACCA, CPA, CIMA etc.) with relevant post-qualified experience.
  • Solid understanding of investment and retail bank financial accounting and products.
  • Ability to work under considerable time pressure, whilst maintaining a high level of accuracy and quality.
  • Excellent communication and presentational skills and a track record in developing good working relationships.
  • Strong analytical ability, being able to discuss legal entity and business results and issues with senior management and various stakeholders across the Firm.
  • A desire to learn and develop an understanding of challenging accounting concepts and new products.
  • Attention to detail and a control focused mind-set at all times.

Preferred qualifications, capabilities and skills

  • Previous experience of accounts preparation under IFRS preferred.
  • Experience of the Firm’s ledger and consolidation platform (SAP, CDGL and BPC)
  • Advanced Excel skills and ideally understanding of process enhancement tools such as Alteryx & Tableau
