As an Associate within Technology, Media & Telecoms Team, you will work closely with business partners across the region, including Debt Capital Markets, Acquisition and Leveraged Finance, M&A, Corporate Bank, Markets, Treasury Services and Trade Finance covering a wide range of Leveraged (both Private Equity-owned and Corporate) and Commercial Banking Innovation Economy clients in the Technology, Media & Telecoms sectors.
Associate within Wholesale Credit Risk EMEA is covering clients for the Commercial & Investment Bank, with a primary focus on venture capital and innovation economy clients.
The role will benefit from flexible work arrangements, including work-from-home and office rotations.
Job Responsibilities
- Drives the preparation of credit memos and makes recommendations as to appropriate structure, risk appetite and grading
- Leads in-depth due diligence processes and oversees the production of credit memos with clear recommendations
- Builds financial models, challenges industry teams on modelling assumptions, devises appropriate downside scenarios and is able to clearly articulate key modelling conclusions
- Works across a variety of products including secured and unsecured loans (e.g., venture term loan, Annual Recurring Revenue facilities, Venture Multiple of Recurring Revenue and Enterprise Financings), derivatives, trade and treasury products
- Negotiates loan documentation, derivatives, and other facilities to help mitigate risks to JPM
- Understands J.P. Morgan’s Risk management policies and related interactions with various stakeholders, including Regulators and Auditors
- Manages ongoing credit risk portfolio including monitoring of credit ratings, sector trends and client performance.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Sound credit skills and judgment, with a proactive approach to the credit process and identifying risks
- Demonstrate knowledge of transaction structures, loan documentation and banking products sufficient to participate in the negotiation and execution of new deal documentation and portfolio workstreams
- Good interpersonal and communication (both written and verbal) skills. Be able to establish credibility and trust with key internal and external stakeholders
- Proven coaching and development ability towards more junior colleagues
- Familiarity with venture lending structures (venture debt, recurring revenue lines, ABL) and managing/monitoring credit exposure for VC/PE backed clients
- Self-starting, result-driven, multi-tasking, risk-reward mindset and adaptable to change given the dynamic nature and timing of workflow
- Prior experience in a comparable environment
- Fluent English.
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Knowledge of European languages (in addition to English) would be an advantage.
