Are you looking for an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic and growing team in a fast paced and challenging area? This is a unique opportunity for you to work with Global Technology Applied Research (GTAR) center at JPMorgan Chase & Co. (JPMC). The goal of GTAR is to design and conduct research across multiple frontier technologies, in order to enable novel discoveries and inventions, and to inform and develop next-generation solutions for the firm’s clients and businesses.

As a 2025 Applied Research Blockchain and Cryptography Summer Associate within the Global Technology Applied Research (GTAR) division of JPMorgan Chase & Co., your professional growth and development will be supported throughout the internship program via project work related to your academic and professional interests, mentorship, interaction with senior stakeholders and more. Our area of focus include blockchain, decentralized learning, and decentralized systems, privacy, cryptography and post quantum cryptography algorithms and applications. Full-time employment offers may be extended upon successful completion of the program.

Job responsibilities

  • Advance the field of blockchain and privacy
  • Develop novel research solutions to problems faced by internal project teams
  • Spin off research with software development for applications
  • Contribute to JPMC’s IP by pursuing necessary protections of generated IP

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • 2+ years of experience in quantitative research or similar background in software development
  • Experience in scientific technical writing, as well as grant applications or research proposals
  • Working knowledge of common research evaluation frameworks and techniques
  • Strong tracking record in research publications or software development
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to present findings to a non-technical audience
  • Enrolled in a related quantitative Ph.D. or engineering masters degree program

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Preference is given to candidates with a strong publication record
  • Experience in Post Quantum Cryptography and/or Decentralized systems and AI, and/or differential privacy, and/or data market
  • Excellent knowledge of OO and Python programming, and/or Rust, C++ is advantage
  • Blockchain, and Cryptography research background are advantage
  • Experience in Decentralized systems and AI, differential privacy, or data market is also an advantage
