Position Summary

The CIB Unit Costing Team is a strategic function, responsible for developing and implementing unit costs for the Payments business by employing an Activity Based Costing methodology.

The unit rates developed drive commercial deal pricing as well as client profitability analytics. In addition, our output is leveraged for allocations and productivity initiatives evaluations. The team develops a comprehensive understanding of the cost components and business dynamics through collaboration with various stakeholders.

Specifically for this requisition, the responsibility will be on Payment’s unit costing with core focus on the development and maintenance of the costing model. The successful candidate must be adept with working with data analytics and visualization tools. They would also work closely with senior Product Managers, Business Managers and the respective Operations /Technology management teams, to derive appropriate unit costs to drive pricing and profitability analytics. Key responsibilities would include:

  1. Develop an in-depth understanding of the financial hierarchy, business/product structure, cost objects and the Activity Based Costing (ABC) principle. With this understanding, the candidate will manage costing study refreshes in collaboration with multiple stakeholders. This includes defining activities and cost objects, establishing production expense base and determining the business drivers (e.g. headcount, volumes etc.) to be used.
  2. Ability to build complex Alteryx models as well tableau reporting views. A strong knowledge of QlikSense is also required.

  1. Collaborate with the Pricing and Product Management teams to engage and align how the unit costs help drive commercial deal pricing for the firm.
  2. Work with the global Payments Unit Costing team on the annual planning cycle and volume collation processes.
  3. Coordination with CIB Allocations team to ensure unit costs are incorporated in the firm’s financial reporting system
  4. Serve as a subject matter expert who is able to quickly address questions and liaise with Product/Business management (across line of businesses – CIB, CB, CCB etc.) on queries relating to costing.

Requirements/Skills:

  • 3+ years of relevant financial services experience, with finance and/or operations experience an advantage
  • Demonstrates analytical skills and ability to present findings in a concise and logical manner to stakeholders
  • Demonstrates communication and influencing skills as well as organizational and project management skills (i.e., ability to define /create processes and execute complicated processes)
  • Ability to manage stakeholders and timelines across multiple projects simultaneously and independently
  • Strong work ethic, willingness to learn and a self-starter who is able to research issues/problems and develop solutions with the team
