We are looking for an Executive Director to join our Innovation Economy Team.
The Innovation Economy team is part of the Global Corporate Bank. The Innovation Economy team provides commercial banking and lending services to high growth technology and technology-enabled companies, ranging from early stage to public companies.
The Venture Capital Relationships Team (VCRT) sits within J.P. Morgan’s Innovation Economy team, and is responsible for building deep relationships with leading Venture Capital (VC) firms in Asia-Pacific. In this position, you will be working closely with different lines of business within JP Morgan, the VCRT aims to deliver the entire suite of commercial banking, investment banking, lending solutions, payments, securities services as well as private banking and asset management services to facilitate the growth of leading Asia Pacific VC firms and be the trusted partner in the buildup of their portfolio companies.
Job Responsibilities :
- Driving the VC coverage strategy for Asia Pacific.
- Being the primary relationship manager for our Venture Capital relationships across Asia-Pacific spanning 12 countries
- Originating banking and lending opportunities business opportunities for J.P. Morgan from these VC relationships, in close coordination with our partners in the Commercial & Investment Bank, Private Bank and other business segments of J.P. Morgan.
- Originating, executing and monitoring our venture debt portfolio.
- Traveling regularly across Asia-Pacific to meet with Venture Capital firms and their portfolio companies.
Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills:
- Minimum 10 years of experience at a major global bank in a client coverage or complex product structuring role
- Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Economics or other related disciplines.
- Experience in working collaboratively with multiple lines of business to deliver a highly coordinated, single-firm approach to clients
- Experience in evaluating or structuring credit products for corporate clients, especially for both pre-profitable and profitable technology companies, including understanding the credit evaluation and returns calculation process, working with the credit risk team and obtaining internal balance sheet approvals.
- Strategic thinking with strong sales and business development skills, as well as strong corporate finance skills
- Excellent communication skills with strong problem solving abilities.
Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills:
- Strong relationships with general partners and other key decision-makers in leading Venture Capital firms across Asia-Pacific.
- Experience in originating commercial banking, lending and other business opportunities from or through VC firms.
- Self-starter with an entrepreneurial mindset.
