Join the team that provides strategic guidance to credit teams and other Wholesale Credit Risk stakeholders.

The Wholesale Credit Risk (WCR) Regulatory Strategy team, within the second line of defense, oversees, manages and provides support across wholesale credit risk on Regulatory exams, requests, meeting agendas, and external audits.

As an Executive Director within Wholesale Credit Risk Regulatory Strategy team, you will help establish and lead a team dedicated to credit related regulatory engagements and external audits for the firm’s Commercial & Investment Bank in UK/ EMEA and APAC, partnering with Asset & Wealth Management, and Consumer & Community Banking, as needed. You will use strong corporate credit skills to strategically advise credit teams and to challenge responses in order to best represent the firm. This role offers high visibility within WCR, involving regular interactions with senior leaders. You will collaborate with senior leaders and credit teams, providing strategic advice and managing regulatory interactions.

Job responsibilities

  • Help build and manage a new team in UK to be central point of contact for regulatory and external audit engagements within UK, EMEA and APAC
  • Oversee the direction and strategy for Regulatory Exams, meetings and External Audits
  • Serve as the main point of contact for all credit related regulatory engagements, liaising with both internal senior stakeholders, internal Compliance and relevant regulators.
  • Using strong credit skills, provide strategic guidance and credible review and challenge to credit teams and senior leaders including rationale for risk ratings, explanation of credit strategy, and description of credit process questions
  • Establish/enhance relationship with Regulators to understand and internally communicate Regulatory climate and plan for upcoming Regulatory Engagements
  • Oversee communication from the team, including messaging to senior management, and general exam/engagement updates
  • Coordinate credit responses to regulatory questions through your partnerships and relationships with credit risk subject matter experts
  • Facilitate global collaboration and communication on regulatory themes and focus areas within wholesale credit
  • Identify exam and audit issues and escalate as needed. Prepare post exam lessons learned

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Relevant experience in a management-level role at a large financial institution or regulatory body
  • Demonstrated subject matter experience in credit risk management and financial statement analysis
  • Direct knowledge of and experience with regulatory exam processes and regulatory engagements
  • Proven track record of managing relationships at a senior level, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively
  • Superior management skills, including the ability to identify, develop, and nurture new talent, as well as the capacity to think and act strategically
  • Exceptional communication skills, including active listening and the ability to succinctly capture and convey key takeaways from engagements in writing
  • Ability to perform effectively under pressure, in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, managing competing priorities and meeting tight deadlines
  • Willingness to take on responsibilities that may fall outside your immediate area of expertise
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint and experience using Sharepoint and Data visualization tools
