Job Description

We know that people want great value combined with an excellent experience from a bank they can trust, so we launched our digital bank, Chase UK, to revolutionise mobile banking with seamless journeys that our customers love. We're already trusted by millions in the US and we're quickly catching up in the UK – but how we do things here is a little different. We're building the bank of the future from scratch, channelling our start-up mentality every step of the way – meaning you'll have the opportunity to make a real impact.

As a Control Management Associate at JPMorgan Chase within the International Consumer Bank, you will be a part of a flat-structure organization. Your responsibilities are to deliver end-to-end cutting-edge solutions in the form of cloud-native microservices architecture applications leveraging the latest technologies and the best industry practices. You are expected to be involved in the design and architecture of the solutions while also focusing on the entire SDLC lifecycle stages.

Our Control Management team is at the heart of this venture, focused on getting smart ideas into the hands of our customers. We're looking for people who have a curious mindset, thrive in collaborative squads, and are passionate about new technology. By their nature, our people are also solution-oriented, commercially savvy and have a head for fintech. We work in tribes and squads that focus on specific products and projects – and depending on your strengths and interests, you'll have the opportunity to move between them. The Control Management team maintains a strong and consistent control environment through a joint accountability model that aligns managers with each line of business, function and region to mitigate operational risk. The team focuses on four areas: Risk Identification & Assessment, Control Design & Evaluation, Issue Management, and Control Governance & Reporting.

Job responsibilities:

  • In partnership with stakeholders, evaluate and perform an end-to-end analysis of the business’ risk and control environment to develop Risk & Control Assessment, identify significant gaps and weaknesses and determine root cause of control breaks
  • Ensure that controls are properly designed, operating effectively, and essential to a proactive risk and control culture that leverages proven evaluation strategies and sound change management protocols
  • Drive remediation, efficacy and sustainability of control changes due to ineffectiveness or regulatory/policy changes
  • Perform ongoing analysis of program related data (e.g., KRI/KPI) and develop ad-hoc reports as requested to support business-related programs and strategies
  • Manage relationships and partner with a large array of constituents, while demonstrating an ability to manage by influence to promote change
  • Support engagement with 3rd parties to ensure an understanding of the end to end control environment
  • Overlay your technology, process management and operational risk skills to develop, maintain and test operational controls
  • Create a network with control colleagues across the firm, business, operations management, legal, compliance, risk, audit, regulators, and technology control functions to further establish and maintain business relationship

Required qualifications, capabilities and skills

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required
  • Experience in financial services industry with background in controls, audit, quality assurance, operational risk management, or compliance preferred; or equivalent subject matter expertise in a relevant business related function/operation
  • Proficient knowledge of control and risk management concepts with the ability to design, create and evaluate the operational risk and control environment in conjunction with business partners

Preferred qualifications, capabilities and skills

  • Experience working and efficiently delivering in an information technology area / environment is a plus (E.g. IT Auditing, Programming Controls, Data Management and Governance or the like)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) preferred
