As a Lead Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the Corporate Sector - CCB Risk Team, you are an integral part of an agile team that works to enhance, build, and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. As a core technical contributor, you are responsible for conducting critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm’s business objectives.
In our Software Engineering Group focused on Site reliability and automation engineering, we look for people who are passionate around solving business problems through innovation and engineering best practices. This role ensures critical Engineering automations that help keep cutting edge applications with strict real-time SLAs.
Job responsibilities
- Executes creative software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems
- Develops secure high-quality production code, and reviews and debugs code written by others
- Identifies opportunities to eliminate or automate remediation of recurring issues to improve overall operational stability of software applications and systems
- Leads evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups, and internal teams to drive outcomes-oriented probing of architectural designs, technical credentials, and applicability for use within existing systems and information architecture
- Leads communities of practice across Software Engineering to drive awareness and use of new and leading-edge technologies
- Works collaboratively in a Global team with fellow DevOps professionals, sharing ideas to solve complex and challenging business problems.
- Adheres to weekly support Rotation schedules including weekends (standard Devops Cadence).
- Communicates effectively and works closely together with business clients, other technology teams, supports partners and stakeholders to deliver and support business aligned solutions.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience
- Experience with database technologies – Oracle/MySQL.
- Experience with Languages – Java, Scala, Python, Shell Scripts
- Familiar with development tools such as IntelliJ, Bitbucket, Sql Developer/Toad, JIRA, Jules, Jenkins.
- Experience with big data stack -- Spark, Hadoop, Hive, Hbase, Impala, Kafka,
- AWS-working knowledge, with hands-on experience in AWS - Event Handling Mechanisms
- Spinnaker, Jenkins, Terraform and similar SDLC and Monitoring Tools - Cloud Watch, and Dynatrace.
- Observability – hands-on Splunk and/or Grafana.
- Incident and Response Management (end-to-end) using appropriate Tools (not emails).
- Demonstrated Devops experience.
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Associate level AWS certification and hands-on skills using Boto3 and CLI
- Hands on experience in Java and Scala with implementation experience
- Familiarity with Hbase, Spark-shell, Hive, etc.
- Knowledge of building Rest API (microservices) with Spring, Spring boot (or Python)
