This role offers the opportunity to lead and coordinate budgeting and forecasting processes, preparing management reports and presentations for the Operating Committee and the Board of Directors.
The Legal Entity Control Professional manages financial oversight of their legal entity and is tasked with ensuring that a strong control environment exists as it relates to all businesses, products and operational areas that impact the Legal Entity financials and regulatory reporting of the firm.
As an Associate - Legal Entity Controller within the Legal Entity Control team, you will be responsible for the financial oversight of the legal entity. You will ensure a strong control environment exists in relation to all businesses, products, and operational areas that impact the Legal Entity financials and regulatory reporting of the firm. This role provides an opportunity to interact with multiple lines of business and internal stakeholders, offering a comprehensive understanding of legal entity controllership end-to-end.
Job Responsibilities:
- Reviewing of inter-entity breaks of the Legal Entity accounting and control on a monthly basis, including month-end close process, FX Trade Out, parent/child accounting, equity pick up, cash breaks and unnatural general ledger balance monitoring.
- Analyzing of the month-End analytics of the legal entity to ensure completeness and accuracy of the financial statements and preparation of various reports, including Legal Entity and line of business financial commentary, Indirect Expenses budget and regulatory reporting requirements.
- Respond to Investigation, analysis and resolution of issues and ad-hoc queries.
- Assisting in the Booking Model review and on-going Legal Entity Control Standard compliance monitoring.
- Overseeing Recovery & Resolution Reporting, Reconciliation and Substantiation of GL Accounts and LEC Issue Metrics Reporting.
- Liaising with various stakeholders, Internal QA Review and Auditors for Statutory Audit, Internal Audit.
Required qualifications, capabilities and skills
- Chartered Accountant/MBA Finance with minimum 2 years of experience with financial services industry and experience of IFRS/US GAAP
- Strong accounting and analytical acumen, with ability to understand, produce and explain income statement and balance sheet content and variances and attention to detail
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, including an ability to prepare executive level presentations
- Ability to work effectively with others, as well as act as an effective liaison with all business partners within the lines of business or legal entity chains
- Ability to multi-task and work well under pressure, with an ability to be flexible in a dynamic and challenging environment
- Efficient Excel and PowerPoint skills required
Preferred qualifications, capabilities and skills
- Knowledge of general ledger platforms used in J.P. Morgan Chase would be an advantage.
