As a Lead Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the Corporate Sector's Data Platform team, you are an integral part of an agile team that works to enhance, build, and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. As a core technical contributor, you are responsible for conducting critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm’s business objectives.
Job responsibilities
- Executes creative software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems
- Develops secure high-quality production code, and reviews and debugs code written by others
- Identifies opportunities to eliminate or automate remediation of recurring issues to improve overall operational stability of software applications and systems
- Adds to team culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect
- Lead and mentor junior software engineers, providing guidance and support to enhance their skills and career development. Facilitate technical discussions and decision-making processes within the team.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and implement strategic technology initiatives that align with business goals. Contribute to the architectural design and long-term planning of software solutions.
- Tackle complex technical challenges and provide innovative solutions that drive business success. Conduct thorough analysis and debugging of critical issues, ensuring timely resolution.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience.
- Understanding of microservices principles, including service decomposition, API design, and inter-service communication.
- Deep understanding of AWS cloud architecture, including advanced services like AWS CloudFormation, AWS Kinesis, and AWS Step Functions. Experience in implementing robust security measures and compliance standards within cloud environments.
- Proficiency in designing and optimizing complex database schemas, both SQL and NoSQL, for high-performance applications.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with diverse teams and stakeholders. Ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Commitment to continuous learning and staying updated with emerging technologies and industry trends. Experience in implementing DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines to enhance software delivery processes.
- Willingness to learn new technologies and adapt to changing project requirements.
- Careful attention to detail to ensure code quality and system reliability.
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- In-depth knowledge of the financial services industry and its IT systems.
- Experience with PySpark, Databricks
- Working on data platform is a plus
