Job Summary:
As a Data Scientist within our team, you will take ownership of data-driven tasks, developing approaches and processes to achieve goals with an emphasis on advanced programming, research, and analytics. You will collaborate directly with key stakeholders across functions and lines-of-business, effectively operating in a senior analyst capacity.
Job Responsibilities:
- Work with a wide range of proprietary, industry-standard, and open-source data stores and tools to assemble, organize, and analyze data.
- Convert data into actionable insights.
- Utilize data visualization tools to effectively communicate findings.
- Leverage statistical and mathematical techniques and algorithms to solve complex business problems.
- Design controlled experiments to test and validate hypotheses.
- Translate business needs into data models supporting long-term solutions.
Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills:
- Deep understanding of data structure and strong SQL skills.
- Experience using statistical programming languages (Python, R) to manipulate data and draw insights from large data sets.
- Practical understanding of advanced statistics, A/B testing, machine learning, and data mining.
- Ability to explain and convert complex concepts into digestible information for audiences at various levels of the business.
- Strong storytelling capabilities.
- Aptitude for learning new theory and new technology.
- Degree in Data Science, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Computer Science, or similar STEM discipline.
Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills:
- Master’s Degree with 2+ years of advanced analytics experience.
- Functional industry experience in finance, operations, sales, marketing, credit/risk, or technology.
- Knowledge of the mortgage industry.
