As a Lead Software Engineer at JPMorganChase within the Consumer & Community Banking Legal & Regulatory Controls team, you are an integral part of an agile team that works to enhance, build, and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. As a core technical contributor, you are responsible for conducting critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm’s business objectives.

Job responsibilities

  • Executes creative software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems
  • Identifies opportunities to eliminate or automate remediation of recurring issues to improve overall operational stability of software applications and systems
  • Leads evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups, and internal teams to drive outcomes-oriented probing of architectural designs, technical credentials, and applicability for use within existing systems and information architecture
  • Leads communities of practice across Software Engineering to drive awareness and use of new and leading-edge technologies
  • Provides technical guidance and mentorship to team of 6 developers, fostering their professional growth and ensuring adherence to best practices in software development
  • Facilitates knowledge sharing sessions and code reviews to enhance team skills and maintain high secure code quality
  • Ensures that all team members are engaged and that discussions are productive, driving alignment on project goals and priorities
  • Collaborates with stakeholders to define, prioritize, and maintain the product backlog
  • Ensures user stories are well-defined and that acceptance criteria are clear, enabling the team to deliver high-quality features that meet user needs
  • Organizes and participates in daily design and build discussions to promote collaboration and innovation within the team
  • Encourage team to have open dialogue about architectural decisions, technical challenges, and design patterns, ensuring that solutions align with overall project objectives and technical standards

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Formal training or certification on Software Engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience.
  • 5 plus years of Java, Spring Core, Spring Boot, REST APIs, JPA (OR) Python and relevant microservices framework.
  • 5 plus years JavaScript, Typescript, React and popular test framework for UI
  • Proficiency in Object-Oriented Design (OOD) and Test Driven Development (TTD), with hands-on experience in test automation frameworks like Junit, Mockito, Playwright and Cucumber
  • Experience in building cloud-native web applications within AWS
  • Strong understanding of security standards such as OAuth, TLS, and Kerberos
  • Lead experience working with Domain Driven Design, microservices patterns, and modern architectures
  • Familiarity with log/metric collection and monitoring technologies like Prometheus, Grafana, AppDynamics, and Splunk
  • Exposure to NoSQL databases such as Cassandra, OpenSearch and Relational databases such as Oracle, PostGres
  • Experience with event-driven processing using Kafka
  • Hands-on experience with building CI/CD pipelines using Git, Maven, Jenkins, SonarQube, and Snyk
