As a Lead Sofwtare Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the Payment Services technology team, you will join one of agile teams that work to enhance, build, and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. You will also manage day-to-day implementation activities by identifying and escalating issues and ensuring your team’s work adheres to compliance standards, business requirements, and tactical best practices.

Job responsibilities

  • Executes creative software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems
  • Develops secure high-quality production code, and reviews and debugs code written by others
  • Investigates problems and suggests effective solutions to address them
  • Provides guidance to immediate team of software engineers on daily tasks and activities
  • Strives to meet guidance set forth by the team lead for software quality, testing practices and runtime efficiency
  • Serves as an engineering role model for junior team members

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 3+ years applied experience
  • Must have 5+ years of demonstrated recent experience in Java development
  • Proficient in automation and continuous delivery methods
  • Proficient in all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle
  • Proficient with delivering enterprise grade micro-service based solutions
  • Demonstrated practical experience delivering API based (REST or HTTP Based) solutions
  • Advanced understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security and Practical cloud native experience
  • Experience in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field and expertise in technology disciplines
  • Very good understanding of software engineering principles, design patterns, and best practices.
  • Hands on experience working with high throughput, low latency distributed systems ensuring efficient communication and integration between different systems.
  • Proven record of providing end-user support with excellent problem-solving abilities.
  • In-depth knowledge of the financial services industry and their IT systems
