As a Python Lead Software Engineer- AI / ML at JPMorganChase within the Corporate Sector- Chief Technology Office, you are an integral part of an agile team that works to enhance, build, and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. As a core technical contributor, you are responsible for conducting critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm’s business objectives.

The Applied Innovation of AI (AI2) team is an elite machine learning group strategically located within the CDAO Technology group of JP Morgan Chase. AI2 tackle business critical priorities using innovative machine learning techniques and technologies with a focus on machine learning for Software, Cybersecurity and Technology Infrastructure. The team partners closely with all lines of business and engineering teams across the firm to execute long-term projects in these areas that require significant machine learning development to support JPMC businesses as they grow. We are looking for software engineers to help us with the design, development, deployment, delivery, and maintenance of AI products to our clients. In this role, you will be working with other software and data engineers & research scientists. You will serve as a seasoned member of an existing agile team, to design, develop and deliver trusted market-leading AI technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way.

Job responsibilities

  • Executes creative software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems
  • Develops secure high-quality production code, and reviews and debugs code written by others
  • Identifies opportunities to eliminate or automate remediation of recurring issues to improve overall operational stability of software applications and systems
  • Leads evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups, and internal teams to drive outcomes-oriented probing of architectural designs, technical credentials, and applicability for use within existing systems and information architecture
  • Leads communities of practice across Software Engineering to drive awareness and use of new and leading-edge technologies
  • Adds to team culture of diversity, opportunity, inclusion, and respect

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience
  • Proven programming/scripting skills with multiple modern programming languages including Python
  • Experience deploying into the cloud (AWS, Azure, GC, etc.)
  • Experience in developing, debugging, and maintaining code in a large corporate environment with one or more modern programming languages and database querying languages.
  • Current experience of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Applicant Resiliency, and Security
  • Solid understanding of software applications and technical processes within a related technical discipline (e.g. Synchronous and non-synchronous APIs, Concurrency, etc.).
  • Creates complex and scalable coding solutions using appropriate software design frameworks
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
  • Experience in the use of GPT, LLM, RAG, Gen AI, Prompt Engineering related technologies
  • Experience in Terraform or any Infrastructure-as-Code technologies
  • Experience in Big Data
  • Experience in developing microservices using FastAPI and the like
