DESCRIPTION:
Duties: Execute software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems. Create secure and high-quality production code and maintains algorithms that run synchronously with appropriate systems. Produce architecture and design artifacts for complex applications while being accountable for ensuring design constraints are met by software code development. Gather, analyze, synthesize, and develop visualizations and reporting from large, diverse data sets in service of continuous improvement of software applications and systems. Proactively identify hidden problems and patterns in data and uses these insights to drive improvements to coding hygiene and system architecture. Contribute to software engineering communities of practice and events that explore new and emerging technologies. Collaborate with the business team to discuss and analyze business and functional requirements, review operational dependencies, and provide technical solutions. Support the application by resolving incident tickets based on priority and severity. Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) of issues. Assist the operational team with technology debt and action plans. Conduct code reviews of team deliverables and identify and address deviations proactively. Partner with the DevOps team to explore potential application transformations aimed at improving quality and prioritization.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum education and experience required: Bachelor's degree in Electronics and Communication, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field of study plus 7 years of experience in the job offered or as Software Engineer, Software Developer, Service Manager, Software Development Engineer, or related occupation. The employer will alternatively accept a Master's degree in Electronics and Communication, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field of study plus 5 years of experience in the job offered or as Software Engineer, Software Developer, Service Manager, Software Development Engineer, or related occupation.
Skills Required: This position requires experience with the following: preparing detailed designs and program/code specifications, developing unit test scenarios, performing unit testing, and documenting test results following best practices to enhance testing efficiency; performing risk analysis to identify potential project approach risks and formulate contingency and mitigation plans; developing REST APIs and services, including SWAGGER and JSON files using z/OS Enterprise Edition to enable data exchange between DB2 and IMS databases and distributed environments via API Gateway; conducting load tests on REST APIs using JMETER in the performance environment; overseeing data transmission between legacy and distributed environments using KAFKA Streaming; constructing AVRO Schema and KMS files; monitoring streaming performance using the GRAFFANA portal; troubleshooting transmission issues using SPLUNK and DYNATRACE logs; utilizing DevOps tools including TOPAZ IDZ, BITBUCKET, JENKINS, GIT, ARM SCRIPT, and JULES to deploy REST APIs to higher environments as part of CI/CD legacy modernization efforts; developing batch/online programs using COBOL, DB2, JCL, VSAM, CICS, MQ Series, and IMS in TSO; utilizing the IBM Debug tool XPEDITOR to identify and resolve code issues; addressing code versioning and audit errors on the mainframe using SCM tools including CHANGEMAN and ENDEVOR; collaborating with Quality Assurance to establish testing approaches and strategies; providing technical support for system/functional testing, integration testing, user acceptance testing, and performance testing including creating test scripts, data mining, test artifacts, and testing application procedures and interfaces; executing automated test scripts using IntelliJ IDEA and ECLIPSE IDE; monitoring application performance using modern tools including Splunk, Dynatrace, Mainview, and Grafana dashboard in the performance environment to address slowness issues; optimizing SQL queries to resolve performance issues during testing; working with production installations, coordinating with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth releases and minimize system downtime to prevent impacts on business and end customers; coordinating cross-functional teams for project execution during quarterly release activities; validating application health checks including response rates, timeouts, alerts, and errors; providing guidance to operational teams on best practices for risk and control.
