As a Lead Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the Commercial and Investment Bank, you are an integral part of an agile team that works to enhance, build, and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. As a core technical contributor, you are responsible for conducting critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm’s business objectives. Candidates must have a strong curiosity for data and proven track record of successfully implementing AWS solutions with proficiency in software engineering. The ideal candidate will have a strong knowledge of AWS solutions, Java, Python, and data applications.

Job responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain scalable and secure AWS infrastructure using best practices.
  • Develop and manage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform.
  • Architect and implement solutions leveraging AWS services such as EC2, ECS, Lambda, Load Balancers, API Gateway, S3, EBS, SQS, SNS, and other storage and messaging services.
  • Collaborate with development teams to deploy application code to AWS environments, ensuring smooth CI/CD processes.
  • Develop automation scripts and tools using Python to streamline operations and improve efficiency.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize AWS networking components, ensuring high availability and performance.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience
  • Hands-on practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
  • Expert-level proficiency in AWS services, including: Compute: EC2, ECS, Lambda, Networking: Load Balancers, API Gateway, Storage: S3, EBS, Messaging: SQS, SNS
  • Hands-on experience with Terraform for infrastructure automation.
  • Strong knowledge and development experience with Python.
  • Solid understanding of networking concepts and architecture on AWS.
  • Proficiency in automation and continuous delivery methods
  • Proficient in all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle
  • Advanced understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security
  • In-depth knowledge of the financial services industry and their IT systems
  • Practical cloud native experience
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
  • Familiarity with Data Engineering and Big Data processing technologies (e.g., Spark, AWS EMR/Glue, Athena) and streaming services.
  • Experience working in a Linux environment and proficiency with Shell scripting.
  • Experience deploying application code to AWS and familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and tools.
  • Experience with SQL and NoSQL Databases, Like RDS, DynamoDB, Neo4j.
