As a Senior Manager of Software Engineering at JPMorganChase within the Transfer Agency Technology, you serve in a leadership role by providing technical coaching and advisory for multiple technical teams, as well as anticipate the needs and potential dependencies of other functions within the firm. As an expert in your field, your insights influence budget and technical considerations to advance operational efficiencies and functionalities.
Job responsibilities
- Provide overall direction, oversight, and coaching for a team of entry-level to mid-level software engineers that work on basic to moderately complex tasks
- Be accountable for decisions that influence teams’ resources, budget, tactical operations, and the execution and implementation of processes and procedures
- Leads end‑to‑end technical strategy and architecture across application, data, and infrastructure layers, with a strong focus on cloud‑native microservices and event‑driven design on AWS.
- Owns solution design and delivery for core services and UIs: Java/J2EE and Spring Boot APIs, ReactJS front‑ends, Kafka streaming, and Oracle/PostgreSQL data stores.
- Drives platform modernization: Kubernetes for container orchestration, Terraform for infrastructure as code, CI/CD automation, comprehensive testing, and production observability.
- Authors high‑quality low‑level designs, perform code reviews, and enforce engineering excellence, resiliency, security, and performance benchmarks.
- Collaborates closely with Transfer Agency product, operations, and control partners to translate business needs into scalable technical solutions, ensuring compliance and operational integrity.
- Mentors and grows engineers; foster a high‑performing, inclusive culture across distributed teams; model Agile, DevOps, and SDLC best practices.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience . In addition, 2 + years of experience leading technologists to manage and solve complex technical items within your domain of expertise
- Proficient in Java/J2EE, Spring Boot, AWS, Kubernetes, Terraform, ReactJS, Hibernate, Kafka, Oracle, PostgreSQL, REST APIs.
- Advanced knowledge of application, data, infrastructure, and microservices architecture; cloud‑based design principles and patterns.
- Demonstrated experience building cloud‑native applications on AWS and Kubernetes, including automation and operational hardening.
- Strong SDLC and Agile expertise; working proficiency with modern development toolsets; excellent low‑level design and implementation skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across distributed, cross‑functional teams.
- Integration across heterogeneous platforms and services; robust understanding of software maintenance and continuous improvemen
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Capital markets, securities processing, custody, and Transfer Agency or investor servicing workflows.
- Automation, DevOps, CI/CD, testing methodologies, and production support practices in regulated financial environments.
- Basic knowledge of financial domain concepts and control frameworks relevant to TA operations.
