Job responsibilities
- Design and deliver secure, resilient, and self-healing network instrumentation platforms aligned to firmwide engineering standards.
- Architect and evolve high-availability packet aggregation and analytics services in partnership with Network Operations and Cybersecurity.
- Lead automation, certification, and lifecycle management of enterprise-scale monitoring platforms.
- Install, productionize, and support monitoring devices using approved procedures and runbooks.
- Execute product and code upgrades in accordance with change and release management guidelines.
- Analyze, test, and certify monitoring appliances and software across performance, security, and compliance criteria aligned to JPMorganChase standards.
- Engage customers to translate requirements into scalable, reliable instrumentation solutions.
- Collaborate with Operations and Architecture teams to address bug fixes, design changes, and code upgrades.
- Coach, mentor, and when applicable manage engineers to promote best practices in design, automation, and SCRUM delivery.
- Integrate packet broker and analytics technologies to enhance observability across complex networks.
- Drive continuous improvement of instrumentation reliability, resiliency, and operational efficiency through telemetry and feedback loops.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Formal training or certification on infrastructure disciplines concepts and 5+ years applied experience
- Deep knowledge of one or more areas of infrastructure engineering such as hardware, networking terminology, databases, storage engineering, deployment practices, integration, automation, scaling, resilience, or performance assessments
- Hands on IT experience focused on routing, switching, and security networking; maintain certifications at CCNP–CCIE level or equivalent.
- Demonstrate expertise with infrastructure components including routers, switches, load balancers, proxies, firewalls, wireless/LAN/WAN, compute, storage, containers, and cloud services.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot complex issues effectively; lead incident and problem management with clear ownership and follow-through.
- Apply packet and NetFlow analysis techniques using industry-standard tools.
- Implement and operate Arista DMF or similar packet broker platforms in large enterprises.
- Deploy and manage Riverbed AppResponse or similar packet analytics solutions to support performance monitoring.
- Maintain proficiency in hardware architecture, performance testing, monitoring, and operations; apply disciplined benchmarking practices and program management.
- Design solutions with embedded compliance and security controls; plan and provision network engineering deliverables across environments.
- Investigate performance issues in distributed applications using infrastructure and application telemetry to isolate root causes.
- Manage large-scale enterprise network topologies across LAN, WAN, wireless, and security services, leveraging platforms such as Cisco, Juniper, Ciena, Check Point, F5, and Blue Coat; uphold relevant certifications.
- Communicate complex technical findings clearly and concisely to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Operate across multiple technology domains to solve mission‑critical problems that span business units.
- Work within high‑performing, cross‑functional teams using SCRUM practices to deliver iterative value.
