In this pivotal role, you will provide independent oversight of technology and cybersecurity operational risk management for our newly established International Consumer Banking retail business, with a strong emphasis on cloud technology and technical risk assessments.

As a Technology Operational Risk Manager – Vice President within the CCOR Technology & Cybersecurity team, you will be responsible for reviewing and assessing the governance of risks, processes, and controls, and for identifying risks inherent in JPMorgan Chase’s technology environment. By engaging closely with technology teams, you will develop a deep understanding of our technology and control landscape—including cloud architectures and security controls—to ensure robust risk management. Leveraging your expertise, you will participate in technical risk assessments and review threat models for critical systems, ensuring comprehensive identification and mitigation of risks. You will evaluate the effectiveness of risk management frameworks, policies, and procedures, ensuring alignment with industry best practices and regulatory requirements. As a trusted advisor, you will partner with the business and key stakeholders to drive enhancements in our policies and frameworks, adapting our approach to meet evolving risks. Your experience will also be instrumental in technology governance forums, where you will provide subject matter expertise on cyber and technology risk management for the International Consumer Bank.

Job responsibilities

  • Oversee operational risks by conducting targeted assessments of global and regional technology and cyber security processes for the International Consumer Bank (Chase Germany), with emphasis on cloud technology architectures, deployments, and related risks.
  • Assess independently the IT Risk Profile, Key Risk Indicators (KRIs), loss data, CORE, and scenario analysis; serve as a liaison with German and EU regulators on operational risk matters.
  • Review significant internal events, including examination of incidents and resolutions, back-testing against Operational Risk and Control Assessment outcomes, and evaluation of metrics, escalations, reporting, and scenarios.
  • Participate in emerging risk assessments as part of strategic business risk reviews, including analysis of regulatory and market developments, New Business Initiative Approvals, and external operational risk events.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of new technologies and regulatory changes to enable proactive risk identification and mitigation.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Strong proven experience in cybersecurity or technology risk oversight roles, combined with financial services experience in retail banking.
  • In-depth knowledge of cloud computing, with hands-on experience in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Amazon Web Services (AWS).
  • Strong ability to understand complex technical systems and their supporting business processes, assess associated risks and controls, and recommend improvements as needed.
  • Solid understanding of cyber and technology controls, risk management processes, architectural requirements, engineering principles, and threat/vulnerability landscapes.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and influencing skills, with a track record of building credibility and effective partnerships across multi-disciplinary teams, senior management, and global organizations.
  • Capable of working independently, managing multiple priorities, and thriving in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in German (C1 minimum) and English.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of EU and German technology regulations, including DORA, BaFin, and EBA Guidelines.

Preferred qualifications, capabilities , and skills

  • Relevant MBA or Bachelor's degree with professional certification preferred (e.g., ISACA, ISC2, SANS, AWS, GCP)
  • German at C2 level
