This role is responsible for a comprehensive set of relationship management and engagement activities under the Global Supplier Services (GSS) Supplier Partnerships function, uniting supplier diversity, relationship management, and supplier sustainability to create a stronger, more resilient, and innovative supply base—driving business results for the firm and positive impact for our clients and communities. The Supplier Development (SD) Relationship Manager will work to support a portfolio of suppliers across various categories of products and service for JPMorgan Chase (JPMC) procurement, developing rapport with category sourcing managers, and serving as key contact to help qualified and performing suppliers navigate direct and indirect JPMC resources designed to help businesses grow and scale, ultimately supporting the sustainability and resiliency of the firm’s global supply chain.

As a Supplier Development Relationship Manager – Vice President in Global Supplier Services, you will manage and support supplier development activities for third-party suppliers and business partners, help shape sourcing strategies and spend forecasts with prioritized and preferred supplier business, and deliver commercial outcomes by helping ensure internal employees and stakeholders can access third party contractors that are exceeding service expectations while maintaining strong business growth and broader economic impact. You will report to the Lead for Supplier Development Strategy, supporting the Supplier Development team’s efforts to cultivate deep partnerships with suppliers, internal stakeholders, and external supply chain stakeholders to enhance uplift activities that build the capacity and capability of suppliers to perform higher value work with JPMC.

Job responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain exceptional end-to-end customer service relationships with current and potential qualified suppliers
  • Partner with internal stakeholders and LOBs (lines of business) within JPMC to understand their vendor and stakeholder needs, and develop strategies to meet supplier development and engagement goals
  • Conduct supplier due diligence and partner with clients and stakeholders to understand sourcing requirements. Assess supplier offerings and support the development/presentation to sourcing teams options that meet JPMorgan Chase business requirements.
  • Lead stakeholder and supplier development meetings, deliver executive-ready summaries, capture decisions, and ensure timely follow-up on action items and partner with key external stakeholders to identify potential supplier development resources and programs focused on supplier uplift for management, risk mitigation, service and product innovation, sustainably and performance operations
  • Serve as key or primary contact for helping vendors navigate JPMC resources with a high touch approach, other internal teams, or external resources to support the ongoing development of businesses across the supply chain ecosystem
  • Identify supply chain barriers to entry for businesses and partner with internal partners to close gaps, setting them up to get more business from other customers, adding jobs, improving the community
  • Partner with regional teams on local, regional, and global sourcing and business community engagement initiatives as needed
  • Drive continuous process improvements to enhance supplier development and enablement
  • Identify and mitigate risks, proactively addressing potential roadblocks and implementing contingency plans to maintain program momentum
  • Develop targets, measurements and reporting for firmwide initiatives impacting small – medium size businesses growth to mature and preferred suppliers, and capture impact of the collective efforts
  • Document research, vetting, and engagement activities and maintain records in Supplier Relationship Management system

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Minimum 7 years of experience or equivalent expertise in significant partnership execution, business development strategy, vendor relations, procurement of goods and services, sourcing or related areas
  • Client management and relationship management skills.
  • Strong communication, analytical and problem-solving skills, able to break down business, technical, or operational objectives into manageable tasks and activities
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills and ability to communicate with senior internal and external stakeholders, including drafting persuasive business cases, briefing documents, and presenting clear recommendations
  • Proven project management, team building and public speaking skills
  • Experience growing strong internal and external relationships
  • Proven experience in successfully managing across organizational boundaries to obtain consensus and achieve firm wide adoption of policy and or processes
  • Track record of meeting and exceeding business development goals
  • Ability to work independently and quickly adapt to new or ambiguous situations without significant assistance

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Community relations experience with supplier development and/or nonprofit organizations supporting small and diverse business growth
  • Strong knowledge of supplier development and enablement program and diverse classifications: certifications and related processes which qualify companies as diverse, ESG focused programs and supply chain sustainability initiatives
  • Experience working with supplier diversity development organizations and business chambers, such as The National Minority Supplier Development Council, Women's Business Enterprise National Council, US Pan Asian American Chamber of Commerce, National Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce, National Veteran-Owned Business Association, US Business Leadership Network, and the US Hispanic Chamber of Commerce

  • Established relationships with diverse-owned, small and medium sized businesses or clients with experience doing business with large corporations and are likely matches for JPMC

  • Proven track record of broad, strategic thinking in a Sourcing or Vendor Management role
  • Category/spend management experience (managing a market facing category)
  • Project management experience delivering complex initiatives, and being comfortable navigating ambiguity and collaborating with stakeholders to clarify requirements and ensure alignment
