VP, Product & Design will determine and formulate policies and provide overall direction within guidelines set up by a board of directors. Plan, direct, and coordinate operational activities at the highest level of management with the help of subordinate executives and staff managers. Leads a team of Product Designers, User Researchers & Product Managers. Mentor and grow the individuals on the team through rapid change and expanding product offerings. Owns the product vision & strategy that is accountable for the short-/mid-/and long-term product roadmap. Ensures the entire company understands the vision and roadmap and effectively communicates cross-functionally to learn from the market and from customers in order to launch products that are delightful, hard-to-copy and margin-enhancing. Builds a product and design organization that can innovate creating digital experiences that are valuable, easy to use and exhibit a high level of quality. They do so by giving clear direction and make data-informed decisions through behavioral product metrics and customer feedback.
Must have a Master’s degree in Design, Business, Computer Science, or related plus 4 years of experience leading people and teams. Requires skills and experience in the following:
Proven ability to combine viability, usability and feasibility considerations to make product decisions;
Experience solving complex problems by way of leading the company in practices of product discovery, prioritization, experience principles & accessibility, and agile product delivery;
Experience or passion for the HR space including critical thinking of new ways of working and how companies need to support it;
Experience leading a team and establishing design processes and practices including design critiques and studios, and design review cycles with cross-functional stakeholders;
Experience with work management systems such as Jira/Shortcut/Asana;
Ability to combine interaction design, visual design and information design / data visualization to deliver products for the web, mobile or chat using collaborative design and prototyping tools including Figma, Sketch, Adobe, InVision, Mural, and Whimsical;
Has led or contributed to component libraries and design systems documenting best practices and usability paradigms by knowledge of Atomic Design, Nielsen’s heuristics and WCAG accessibility guidelines;
Experience in validating executions through user feedback, by way of qualitative and/or quantitative research using a range of approaches including in-depth interviews, concept testing, card sorting, surveys, behavioral research, A/B Testing, customer roundtables and workshops
Experience with User Research tools including Maze, UserTesting.com, Hotjar, Typeform, Amplitude, and Google Analytics;
Knowledge of assessing viability of product design ideas;
Understands economics fundamentals such as economies of scale, opportunity cost, law of supply and demand, network effects and utilizes decision frameworks including Jobs-to-bedone, Business Model Canvas or Porter’s 5 forces to influence product and company strategy;
Knowledge of agile methodologies including Scrum or Kanban; and
Familiarity with HTML/CSS, and GitHub.
Salary: $240,000 - $250,000
Job Location: 2755 Canyon Blvd., Boulder, CO 80302. Position allows telecommuting within the Boulder metro area.
