Position Overview
We're looking for a VP of Finance who thrives in early-stage, high-growth startup environments and wants to have a meaningful impact on building a financially resilient, investor-ready company.
As part of our founding in-house Operations team, your mission is to own the full Finance function end-to-end — strategic finance, FP&A, financial modeling, budgeting and reforecasting, treasury, fundraising support, and oversight of the accounting function. You'll report to the Chief Operating Officer, partner closely with the CEO, and serve as a key financial voice to our board and investors as we scale through our Series B and beyond.
From a seed-stage, VC-backed start-up, our journey has been backed by notable investors including Foundry.vc, Next Frontier Capital, Illuminate, Portland Seed Fund, Full-Circle, among others.
This is a full-time role, remote-friendly with a preference for Seattle and overlap with the Pacific Time Zone, with a clear path to grow with the company as it scales.
What You'll Accomplish
In your first 2 months you'll…
- Ensure the company's financial model is updated and board-ready with multi-year revenue, cost, and headcount forecasts — grounded in driver-based assumptions the leadership team can defend.
- Establish a board-grade monthly financial reporting cadence covering KPIs, variance to plan, runway, and unit economics.
- Stand up the annual budgeting and quarterly reforecast process, working with department heads to translate strategy into operating plans and headcount commitments.
- Partner with the CEO and COO on Series B narrative, financial diligence prep, and a clean data room — alongside the Controller's accounting close work.
In your first year you'll…
- Review your team’s needs and ensure we have the right talent in place
- Lead the finance workstreams of our Series B raise — model, investor materials, diligence responses, and terms analysis.
- Implement scalable FP&A and finance systems (planning tool, BI, integrations to GL, payroll, equity, and CRM).
- Establish unit economics, customer-level profitability, and pricing analytics that inform GTM strategy and product investment decisions.
- Stand up treasury and cash management discipline, including scenario-based runway monitoring and capital allocation recommendations to the CEO, COO, and board.
You'll Thrive in This Role If You…
- Have 10–15+ years of progressive finance experience, with at least 5 years in startup or high-growth environments (Series A–C preferred).
- Have held a VP Finance, Head of FP&A, or Director of Finance title and owned a Series B or later fundraise from the finance seat.
- Are an exceptional financial modeler
- Have attention to detail and strong communication skills
- Have managed a Controller or accounting team and know where the seam between FP&A and Accounting lives — you respect the GL but live in the future.
- Are comfortable building from scratch — process where none exists, no waiting for a playbook — and pragmatic about what's worth formalizing now vs. later.
- Have deep familiarity with SaaS or contract-based revenue, equity and cap table mechanics, 409As, and investor reporting expectations.
- Communicate financial complexity clearly to non-finance stakeholders, including founders, board members, and investors — and you've earned credibility presenting in those rooms.
- Take ownership, stay cool in ambiguity, and care as much about accuracy as you do about speed.
About the Team
- Chief Operating Officer (Direct Manager) — Megan Fouty
- They'll partner with you across the full Operations function, share board and investor context, and create opportunities for you to grow as a strategic finance leader and executive. They bring deep operational experience scaling startups and will invest in your growth.
- CEO & Co-Founders
- You'll be a core thought partner on board reporting, investor diligence, fundraising strategy, and the financial decisions that underpin where we go next. This role offers direct exposure to board members and lead investors and the financial rigor that investors expect at the Series B level and beyond.
- Controller Function
- Owns the Accounting function end to end, including the close cycle, controls, AP/AR, audit, and tax. You'll set the strategic direction, partner on systems and reporting architecture, and ensure FP&A and Accounting operate as one team.
- Cross-Functional Leaders (Product, Clinical, GTM, Ops)
- You'll partner with department heads to build credible operating plans, surface tradeoffs, and translate strategy into budget. Finance shows up as a true business partner — not a referee — and helps every leader make sharper decisions.
We're a mission-driven, collaborative team that values precision, moves with urgency, and believes that strong financial discipline isn't a tax — it's a competitive advantage. We're looking for someone who takes ownership of the numbers and earns trust as a true strategic partner.
