About mpathic

mpathic is keeping humans safe in the AI era with experts and software that are rooted in psychology and powered by clinicians. We work with leading AI model builders, application layers and clinical researchers to understand and protect people, reducing the world’s biggest human risks.

About the Role

mpathic is seeking a detail-oriented Technical Project Manager to support high-velocity AI safety, human data, and evaluation projects with leading AI companies. This role will help ensure that expert-led work is delivered on time, with strong quality controls, clear documentation, and consistent cross-functional communication.

You will support clinical experts, red teamers, annotators, and reviewers working on sensitive AI safety initiatives, including roleplay campaigns, model behavior evaluation, policy testing, rubric-based review, and human data workflows. You will help onboard and support experts, manage assignments and timelines, monitor throughput, coordinate QA processes, and surface risks early so projects stay on track.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys connecting people, processes, and technology in a fast-moving AI safety environment. Strong candidates are proactive, reliable, highly organized, and comfortable balancing autonomy with timely escalation. You do not need to be a clinician or machine learning expert, but you should be comfortable working closely with clinical, research, operations, product, and technical teams. This job requires flexible hours to manage client project velocity. We highly value work/life balance and encourage all team members to work reasonable hours, but want to be up-front that the working hours can ebb and flow depending on active campaigns.

You will support confidential initiatives involving AI safety protocols, mental health policy, red teaming, and large language model evaluation. Work may include coordinating roleplay design and review, supporting expert training, tracking project deliverables, helping implement QA workflows, identifying operational gaps, and contributing to documentation, rubrics, escalation processes, and final reporting. A strong commitment to safety, ethics, confidentiality, and execution quality is essential. This role sits on the Science team and partners closely with Human Data leadership, clinical

experts, red team leadership, product, engineering, research, and operations.

What You’ll Accomplish

In your first 90 days, you’ll…

  • Build fluency in mpathic’s AI safety, human data, red teaming, annotation, QA, and evaluation workflows
  • Support day-to-day execution of one or more active client projects, with a focus on timelines, task tracking, expert coordination, and quality follow-through
  • Help maintain clear project trackers, assignment workflows, throughput targets, and delivery timelines
  • Coordinate with clinical experts, red teamers, reviewers, and QA leads to ensure work is completed accurately and on schedule
  • Identify blockers, quality issues, unclear instructions, or workflow gaps and escalate them to the Senior TPM or Human Data leadership
  • Support expert onboarding, training logistics, office hours, calibration sessions, and project documentation
  • Review project outputs for completeness, consistency, and adherence to project instructions, while partnering with subject matter experts on clinical or policy-sensitive judgments
  • Contribute to small but measurable improvements in workflow clarity, turnaround time, documentation, or QA consistency

In your first year, you’ll…

  • Support human data and AI safety projects across domains, helping ensure consistent communication, tracking, and delivery standards
  • Help maintain scalable systems for data generation, red teaming, annotation, evaluation, QA, and reporting
  • Partner with the Senior TPM, clinical leads, QA leads, and project owners to improve SOPs, rubrics, task instructions, calibration materials, and review workflows
  • Support capacity planning by tracking expert availability, assignment progress, throughput, and project risks
  • Help reduce friction and rework through clearer task design, stronger documentation, better handoffs, and more consistent project operations
  • Contribute to project summaries, QA roll-ups, status updates, and internal reporting that make project progress and risks easy to understand
  • Help ensure project materials, decisions, and outputs are organized, version-controlled, and easy to audit
  • Become a trusted execution partner to the Senior TPM, clinical experts, QA leads, product, and delivery teams
