WHAT YOU WILL DO

onX is seeking a Senior Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) with a passion for process and test automation. As an onX SDET, you will build and utilize cutting-edge testing tools in an agile environment to plan and conduct testing of our innovative software products. You will be a part of our Core Services team that builds the foundation for all our products and automates our release processes. This role will serve as a critical member of our team, ensuring we are delivering the highest-quality products to our customers. This position will report to a QA Manager.

As an onX Senior Software Development Engineer in Test, your day to day responsibilities would look like:

  • Learn about onX's products and passion for the outdoors, advocating for quality and an excellent customer experience
  • Design and develop automated test frameworks
  • Prototype new automation capabilities for testing
  • Build and maintain automation pipelines
  • Identify and promote effective and efficient ways to test the product
  • Identify ways to improve the testing cycle
  • Contribute to a positive and collaborative team environment within Engineering across teams
  • Influence and communicate effectively with development teams, managers and non-technical audiences including senior product and business management

LOCATION

onX has created a thriving distributed workforce community across several US locations. This position can only be performed from an onX corporate office, “Basecamp,” or “Talent Cluster.”

  • Corporate Offices: onX’s was founded in Montana with offices in Missoula and Bozeman. If you prefer to work in an office at least part of the time this is a great option.
  • Basecamps: onX’s Basecamps are established virtual workforce communities where a sizable number of distributed team members group for work, volunteering, socializing, and adventure.
    • Our current Basecamps are located within a 90-mile radius of the following: Austin, TX; Charlotte, NC; Denver, CO; Minneapolis, MN; Portland, OR; Salt Lake City, UT; and Seattle, WA.
  • Talent Clusters: onX’s Talent Cluster locations are smaller, emerging communities of distributed team members.
    • Our current Talent Clusters are located within a 60-mile radius of the following: Boise, ID; Charleston, SC; Dallas/Fort Worth, TX; Phoenix, AZ; Richmond, VA; Spokane, WA; and Vermont.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
  • Five (5) or more years of Quality Assurance, test engineering, or development experience, working in an agile environment
  • A shared passion for and ability to demonstrate onX’s Company Values.
  • Permanent US work authorization is a condition of employment with onX.
  • At least 3 years of programming experience, in one or more languages.
  • At least 2 years of experience working with DevOps tools such as CircleCI, fastlane and github actions.
  • Proven ability to use research and data to identify ways to advance onX processes, frameworks and ways of working.
  • Ability to work collaboratively to identify and solve problems across distributed teams with strong communication skills
  • Proven ability to build, maintain and configure testing environments
  • Motivation to continue growing your skills as an Engineer and push for quality products in a fast-paced environment

ADDED BONUSES

Though not required, we would be thrilled to consider candidates with any of the following:

  • iOS app development experience
  • iOS Build pipeline experience (xcodebuild, fastlane)
  • Knowledge of testing interfaces and distributed systems
  • Programming Languages / Environments
  • Project Management Tools (JIRA, GitHub)
  • Experience with CI Systems (Circle CI)
  • Ability to create, execute, and properly communicate automated test plans
  • Shell-scripting experience

COMPENSATION

onX is committed to compensating all employees fairly and equitably for their contributions. For this position, applicants can expect to make between $145,000 to $165,000 upon hire. The pay range will vary based on experience, skills, certifications, and education among other factors as required in the job description. In addition, full-time onX employees are eligible for a grant of common share options with a vesting schedule and a potential annual bonus of 10% based on company performance.
