WHAT YOU WILL DO
onX is seeking a talented Head of Business Intelligence & Data Analytics to oversee and monitor all activities of the data analytics and data warehousing departments and personnel. A key part of this role is driving departmental culture and promoting data-driven decision-making, consumer-driven analytics, marketing, and investment planning across the business. This position will also help establish and lead the data science department at onX. As an onX Head of Business Intelligence & Data Analytics, your day to day responsibilities would look like:
- Build and lead a team of analysts to support the reporting, analysis and experimentation needs of our organization.
- Partner with stakeholders to understand their business objectives and collaborate measurement, opportunity identification, strategic planning and general analysis work.
- Identify the functional and domain areas of expertise needed to best support the business, and ensure these capabilities are developed within the BI team.
- Create, implement and maintain a self-service reporting & visualization platform to support the data needs of the organization.
- Build and lead a team of data scientists that support the organization.
- Conceptual, logical, and physical data modeling.
- Establishing data analytics best practices.
- Delegating tasks and responsibilities to data analytics team members.
- Communicating business insights and project goals.
- Creating and presenting data visualizations.
- Mentoring and training direct reports.
LOCATION
onX has created a thriving distributed workforce community across several US locations. This position can only be performed from an onX corporate office, “Basecamp,” or “Talent Cluster.”
- Corporate Offices: onX’s was founded in Montana with offices in Missoula and Bozeman. If you prefer to work in an office at least part of the time this is a great option.
- Basecamps: onX’s Basecamps are established virtual workforce communities where a sizable number of distributed team members group for work, volunteering, socializing, and adventure.
- Our current Basecamps are located within a 90-mile radius of the following: Austin, TX; Charlotte, NC; Denver, CO; Minneapolis, MN; Portland, OR; Salt Lake City, UT; and Seattle, WA.
- Talent Clusters: onX’s Talent Cluster locations are smaller, emerging communities of distributed team members.
- Our current Talent Clusters are located within a 60-mile radius of the following: Boise, ID; Charleston, SC; Dallas/Fort Worth, TX; Phoenix, AZ; Richmond, VA; Spokane, WA; and Vermont.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING
- A related degree or comparable formal training, certification, or work experience.
- Seven (7) or more years of experience in the analytics space and at least four (4) years of experience leading teams.
- Demonstrated track record of creating strategic relationships across the business while driving alignment on high-priority, high-visibility initiatives.
- Expert in organizational design and building a centralized BI team with a diverse range of business domain expertise.
- Experience with business intelligence software, such as Looker or Tableau.
- Experience with client-side analytics, like Google Analytics, Amplitude or Firebase.
- Familiarity with working alongside a Data Engineering team and all processes and best-practices of the relationship
- High proficiency in relational DB and query languages (e.g. SQL).
- Familiarity with Big Query
- Familiarity with R / Python.
- Statistical analysis and computing, machine and deep learning
- Working with Big data and Data modeling through tool sets (e.g., Databricks, Snowflake)
- Experience establishing and running data science teams or initiatives
- Effective written and verbal communication skills using data as the focal point.
COMPENSATION
onX is committed to compensating all employees fairly and equitably for their contributions. For this position, applicants can expect to make between $200,000 to $255,000 upon hire. The pay range will vary based on experience, skills, certifications, and education among other factors as required in the job description. In addition, full-time onX employees are eligible for a grant of common share options with a vesting schedule and a potential annual bonus of 10% based on company performance.
