ABOUT onX

As a pioneer in digital outdoor navigation with a suite of apps, onX was founded in Montana, which in turn has inspired our mission to awaken the adventurer inside everyone. With more than 300 employees located around the country working in largely remote / hybrid roles, we have created regional “Basecamps” to help remote employees find connection and inspiration with other onXers. We bring our outdoor passion to work every day, coupling it with industry-leading technology to craft dynamic outdoor experiences.

Through multiple years of growth, we haven’t lost our entrepreneurial ethos at onX. We offer a fast-paced, growing, tech-forward environment where ownership, accountability, and passion for winning as a team are essential. We value diversity and believe it leads to different perspectives and inspires both new adventures and new growth. As a team, we’re hungry to improve, value innovation, and believe great ideas come from any direction.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Reporting directly to the GM of Hunt/Fish, the Senior Regional Marketing Manager position is responsible for building and driving the go-to-market strategy for the newly launched onX Fish solution. This includes establishing an in-depth understanding of regional angler user needs and requirements, identifying regional opportunities to drive awareness, identifying and establishing partnerships with key regional influencers, and establishing a go-to-market (GTM) channel strategy.

A key aspect of this role is developing customer segments, actively measuring gaps in product market fit for these groups of customers, and working with the product team to ensure we are solving the most important problems. This role will be accountable for regional sales growth, usage statistics and customer NPS.

At onX we are all asked to balance thinking with doing. This role is no different and the right person will be able to roll up their sleeves and ‘do the work’. The candidate must be able to get deep into the details, using data to inform hypotheses, collaborate across the organization and externally, and be a tireless advocate for our customers. This job will not be easy: you will need to be an expert marketer, relationship builder, business development manager and data analyst - likely all in the same day.

onX has a reputation of being ‘built for | by for’. As such, this role requires someone with deep experience in conventional angling tactics on flat and hard water. They should also have a strong passion for taking initiative both on the water and in the office.

As an onX Senior Regional Marketing Manager, your essential job duties and responsibilities will look like:

  • Build customer segments, define key problems for these segments, ensure that internal delivery and execution is strongly aligned to customer needs.
  • Create and execute a regionally focused go-to-market (GTM) plan as well as track detailed results of the plan through a comprehensive set of input and output metrics
  • Establish relationships and partnerships across the midwest region to drive onX awareness and GTM strategies.
  • Meet with users on a regular basis to gain an understanding of user needs, product gaps, and additions. Work closely with the product team to communicate key customer problems.
  • Work with regional key constituents (retail shops, influencers, ambassadors, NGOs, tournament hosts, wildlife biologists, college teams, etc) to evangelize and position onX for success as well as understand the range of use cases and best practices for the product.
  • Identify and track key metrics to determine regional success including market segment share by state and region, customer usage, customer satisfaction, sales, promo usage, etc.
  • Collaborating with internal marketing teams through briefs and other other mechanisms to ensure appropriateness and authenticity in customer facing communications.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • Eight (8) or more years of professional experience, where your role was directly responsible for establishing and executing go-to-market (GTM) plans.
  • Successful track record of identifying and building business relationships and partnerships.
  • Familiarity with the regional fishing market space and local practices.
  • Experience working as a self-motivated remote employee.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with professionalism.
  • A shared passion for and ability to demonstrate onX’s Company Values.
  • Permanent US work authorization is a condition of employment with onX.
  • Must be able to regularly travel throughout the Midwest region, as well as make quarterly trips to onX offices in Montana.

ADDED BONUSES

Though not required, we would be thrilled to consider candidates with any of the following:

  • Experience at a consumer, SMB software, mobile application, or consumer internet company
  • Experience as a former professional or semi-professional angler
